TV is disdained by most "true" writers of this day and age, and yet, somehow it can impart things that a novel never can. Of course, this means that quotes will never do justice either...I suggest you find the SciFi channel and watch some B5 to get the full effect of those quotes.
And then there's Buffy...

"The past tempts us, the present confuses us, and the future frightens us ...and our lives slip away, moment by moment, lost in that vast, terrible in-between."
(Emperor Turhan, "The Coming of Shadows", Babylon 5)

"Five card stud, nothing wild. And the sky's the limit"
(Picard, "All Good Things..." Star Trek: The Next Generation)

"Synthetic Scotch, synthetic Commanders..."
(Scotty, Star Trek:TNG)

"I used to think it was awful that life wasn't fair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the dreadful things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."
(Marcus Cole, "A Late Delivery from Avalon", Babylon 5)

"If you prick me, do I not... leak?"
(Data, Star Trek:TNG)

"My whole life just flashed before my eyes. I gotta get me a life."
(Xander, Buffy The Vampire Slayer)

"Fate, it protects fools, small children and ships called Enterprise."
(Riker, Star Trek:TNG)
